Hey Ya’ll!

I’ve spent a week away from the restaurant and my brain is starting to feel sane again. Here’s what I’ve been thinking about:

Wild Heaven Brewery just announced the release of a Lemon Pepper Wet brew. I can’t believe it’s taken this long for an Atlanta/Georgia brewery to do this. I saw the email and went…yeah, that sounds about right.
It reminded me that I had beer with Ale Sharpton (still one of the greatest monikers ever) a few weeks ago. Well, I nosied my way in when he stopped by the restaurant. It’s been a while since I’ve tried any new brews. I don’t talk about beer often, but I seriously love it. And I just found out that Ale is Jamaican. We’re everywhere.
I’ve tasted lots of really amazing things recently. This is seriously the biggest perk of restaurant openings. I had some Louis XIII cognac for the first time. I have to say I was a little underwhelmed. I tasted L’Or de Jean, Martell’s high-end offering, a few years ago and that felt like a revolution. Still, who turns their nose up at 100-year-old cognac? Not this gal.
A friend recently went to a restaurant and sent her drink back because she ordered an old fashioned and was given some clear concoction. A clear old fashioned. Yikes, egads, holy smokes batman. Just no way. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't some fancy milk-clarified version. This is seriously the worst drink offense. Make a margarita with sour mix if you must (ughhh…don’t), but don’t mess up an old fashioned. On the flip side though, I’m giving restaurants all the grace in the world right now. I forgot how bloody hard this all was.
I’ve been binge-watching the British police series Line of Duty. When I was in Jamaica, the owner of GeeJam shared his movies and shows Google doc. This was one of his picks that I’d not heard of and it hasn’t disappointed. The lack of and handling of guns was kinda weird to get used to, but what was even weirder to me was the lack of food. Lots of offers of tea, but no food. Food is the cornerstone of American TV. But now that I think of it, maybe there’s no food in Law and Order either. Maybe I’m just picking on the Brits because their food is notoriously bad.
I’ve written this entire thing with a slight British accent….and while drinking a cup of tea.
